About Us

Established on May 31, 1992, Teachers' Training College, Mirza was founded with the mission to provide quality teacher education and contribute to the overall improvement of education in South Kamrup and beyond. The idea of establishing the college was first proposed in April 1992, during a discussion with Dr. Amrit Sarmah, Principal of Dakshin Kamrup College, Mirza. Dr. Sarmah enthusiastically supported the initiative and assured his full cooperation. A team of dedicated educationists and community leaders, including Dr. Amrit Sarmah, Sri Surjya Kumar Mazumder, Upen Chandra Talukder, and Amrit Chandra Das, convened a general meeting on May 31, 1992, at Dakshin Kamrup College. Presided over by Sri Bhabani Kanta Choudhury, former Principal of R.B. High School and M.P. School, Mirza, the meeting unanimously resolved to establish a Teachers' Training College in Mirza starting from the 1992–93 academic session.

The first principal of the college was Late Bhabani Kanta Choudhury, who served from August 1, 1992, to May 17, 1993. He was succeeded by Late Surjya Kumar Mazumder, who held the position from June 3, 1992, to August 4, 1997. In its founding year, the college enrolled 152 students, with 60 appearing for the examination and 19 securing second-class results. While initial admissions from local students were limited, the college soon attracted learners from Kerala, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and other states, fostering a vibrant and diverse academic environment.

The Aim of the College
